Riley Skworoda is an accomplished international performer, dynamic and innovative dance educator and highly respected, original choreographer. She is based in Alberta, Canada, having attained a Bachelor of Arts recreation sports and tourism degree from the University of Alberta, with a focus in dance and drama. Combining a love of travel and a passion for training with today’s biggest names in the tap dance community, Riley first travelled to the Rhythm Summit by Tapmotif in Lefkada, Greece, to train with Heather Cornell, Max Pollak and Thanos Daskalopoulos. Riley then set her sights on the international tap dance scene, and was accepted into the Escola Luthier advanced professional tap training program under the direction of Guillem Alonso in Barcelona, Spain, where she spent 9 months living, training and performing. During her time in Spain she also trained intensively with Roxane Butterfly, at The Jimmy Slyde institute in Barcelona. For the past three years Riley has attended the Stockholm Tap festival in Sweden, Europe’s biggest tap festival and in 2015 Riley also attended Nicholas Young’s Institute for The Rhythmic Arts in Chicago. Most recently Riley attended the Ted Louis Levy residency as part of the first Toronto International Tap Festival. Currently, Riley runs a pre professional team for young tap dancers out of 3RD Street Beat in Edmonton, Alberta called Hoofin’.
